Introduction

This policy explains what information Ad & Popup Blocker: Clearpage ("the app") handles and where it goes. The app is made by Winton Gee ("we" or "us"). In short: there is no account, no analytics and no server of ours. Blocking runs inside Safari through Apple's content blocker, and the app never receives page content or your browsing history. The only data that leaves the device is purchase information, handled by RevenueCat and Apple, and a report email if you choose to send one.

Information stored on your iPhone

The app stores the following on your iPhone, in its own storage and in storage it shares with its Safari extensions. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

  • Allowed and paused sites: the address of each site you allow or pause, and until when a pause lasts, used to write the site rules Safari applies.
  • Your settings: your theme.
  • Installed filter lists: the compiled filter lists the app gives Safari, with their versions and rule counts, shown on the status screen.

How blocking works

Blocking runs inside Safari through Apple's content blocker. The app gives Safari a list of rules ahead of time, and Safari applies them to each page on its own. The app never receives page content, the addresses you visit or your browsing history, and it cannot read them.

Site controls in Safari

With Pro, the Clearpage actions in Safari's extension menu allow the current site or pause blocking on it. They use only the current page's address, to write a site rule on your iPhone. The address is not sent anywhere.

Reporting an ad

Report an ad opens a mail draft addressed to us. It contains the page address you enter, the app and iOS versions, and the versions of the installed filter lists. The app uploads nothing: the draft is sent only if you send it yourself, from your own mail account, and we then receive it like any email, with your email address. We use it to fix the filter lists and to reply, and you can ask us to delete it.

The test page

The test page at clearpage.wintongee.com/test asks your browser to load a fixed set of ten advertising and tracking addresses and shows which ones Safari blocked. The requests go from your browser straight to those hosts, and the page sends nothing to us. A request Safari does not block reaches its host like any page request would, with your IP address. The Send result button hands only the number blocked to the app on your iPhone.

Purchases

Pro is sold through the App Store. These are the only third parties that receive data from the app, and only purchase information.

Apple sells Pro through the App Store and processes the payment. We never receive your payment details. Apple receives:

  • Your purchase, under your Apple Account

The app does not send your allowed sites, settings or browsing to Apple. For how Apple handles data, see its privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

The app uses RevenueCat to confirm purchases and to check whether Pro is active, including when the app opens. RevenueCat receives:

  • Your purchase history and subscription status for this app
  • An anonymous identifier the app creates on your device, which is not linked to your name or email

RevenueCat processes this data as our service provider and provides the same or equal protection of your data as this policy describes.

RevenueCat does not receive your allowed sites, settings or browsing. For how RevenueCat handles data, see its privacy policy (opens in a new tab).

Information we do not collect

  • No account or sign-in
  • No server of ours: your allowed sites and settings are never sent to us
  • No page content, browsing history or addresses you visit
  • No analytics or tracking
  • No advertising
  • No VPN, DNS change or network profile
  • No contacts, location, photos or microphone

Keeping and deleting your data

  • Delete everything: open the app's Settings and tap Delete all data. It deletes your allowed sites and theme from this iPhone; blocking stays on. Or delete the app from your iPhone, which removes all the data it stored on the device.
  • Purchase history: your purchase record with Apple and RevenueCat is tied to your Apple Account and stays after you delete the app, so you can restore Pro later. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide and restore Pro and to meet legal and accounting obligations, and RevenueCat records are deleted on request to us.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you think a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
